Title: Grayson Manor Haunting (Addison Lockhart, book 1)
Author: Cheryl Bradshaw
Format: audiobook
Narrator: Nikki Devitt

Summary:

When Addison Lockhart inherits Grayson Manor after her mother’s untimely death, she unlocks a secret that’s been kept hidden for over fifty years. For Addison, it seems like she’s finally found the house of her dreams…until the spirit of Roxanne “Roxy” Rafferty comes to call. Who is Roxanne, why is she haunting Grayson Manor, and how will Addison’s connection reveal a key to her own past that she thought no longer existed?

My Thoughts:

I’ve heard of mediums, but this is a bit more than just a simple medium. Addison Lockhart gets images of events past, and yet to come just from touching an object. This hasn’t happened to her since she was a little girl. Her parents thought she was crazy and took her to a psychologist, and she turned off the visions. Buried them deep inside her. Now, an adult, and she’s inherited a home previously belonging to her grandmother, and more recently to her mother who died in a bad accident. She begins seeing an event that took place in the history of the home. Did this event really happen? Did her mother know about the event?

She meets a cute handyman who begins helping with more than just updating the house wiring. The handyman starts helping her investigate what is happening.

Overall I enjoyed the story, and the writing. I’d say the writing was, what I would consider basic. I didn’t feel anything of the author in there, where like The Percy Jackson series you get some funny comparisons, or hidden feelings like Amazon being run by Amazonians trying to take over the world. You won’t find any of that here.

There is intrigue as we are taken on this journey with Addison and wondering what crazy stuff is going on, and how the event she sees actually played out however many years ago it was.

I think I would have to give this a 3.5 out of 5 though. It wasn’t quite un-put-downable, but it was enjoyable and kept me wanting to read. I do also plan on continuing the series.
