6 months down, and 6 more to go. I’m not really pushing towards a goal of total books I’d like to read by the end of the year. At the same time though, I’d like to read at least 52 books by the end of the year. This would equate to an average of one book each week. If we go by this goal, I’m about 5 weeks behind.
Best book you’ve read so far in 2022?
I can not explain enough how much I enjoyed A Dream So Dark. Technically the second book of a series, the third book is expected to be released next year, and I am dying for it.
Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2022?
With A Dream So Dark being chosen as best book read so far, I’m going with The Burning Sea as the best sequel. This one was still a good book read this year, but I loved the Nightmare books more, so this one was demoted. It’s the second book of the Furyck Saga. There were many points where I was getting nervous for the events I could see coming next.
New release you haven’t read yet, but want to?
I discovered Kings Dark Tidings years ago. Mage of No Renown is a prequel which came out last month. I couldn’t make it fit with the Whateverathon II prompts. Then for this month, I decided to switch things up with what I was reading because I lost interest in the books I had started towards the end of the month.
Most anticipated release for the second half of 2022?
Dragons and Demons by Kel Kade will be the next book to continue the series of Kings Dark Tidings, and it is expected to be released this September. I have been dying for the next book of this series for a while now. I’ll probably read all from the start again soon since it’s been a while and would really love to read them all again.
What was your biggest disappointment?
I really was looking forward to The Queen of Blood and the rest of the books in the series. The characters just didn’t mesh for me. They would do things which seemed out of character.
What was your biggest surprise?
I expected to enjoy this book, just not as much as I did. I didn’t want to stop reading.
Who is your new favorite author, if you have one?
I’m not sure I can pick. I have 2 new favorite authors. L.L. McKinney, author of the Nightmare-Verse, and A.E. Rayne, author of the Furyck Saga. These are 2 series I recently found and have fallen in love with.
Who is your newest fictional crush?
I don’t really get fictional crushes.
Who is your newest favorite character?
I don’t really have a favorite, or even a liked character. If I had to pick, I would go with probably Jael Furyck from the Furyck Saga by A.E. Rayne.
What is a book that made you cry?
Bloody Rose, the ending really got me. For obvious reasons, I will not say more to prevent spoilers.
What is a book that made you happy?
Carry on Warrior is a book which shows a different way of viewing things which happen to us in life. This gave me several pointers, even if the author related things to religion, if you are able to change some of that up yourself if you are not religious yourself, this has some great pointers.
What is your favorite book to movie adaptation you’ve seen so far this year?
I haven’t seen any.
What is your favorite review you’ve written this year?
I would have to say my favorite review is the review I wrote for Ignatius and the Swords of Nostaw.
What is your most beautiful book you bought this year?
I enjoy the seeming simplicity of the cover.
What books do you really need to read by the end of this year?
Oh so many. I have many series I’m in the middle of like The Bone Season, and the Furyck Saga. Then there are the many series I really want to start.
