Title: Scarlet – The Lunar Chronicles #2
Author: Marissa Meyer
Format: audiobook
Publisher: Macmillan Audio
Narrator: Rebecca Soler

This is the second book in the Lunar Chronicles, and a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood.

Scarlet’s Grandmother has been kidnapped, or something seriously happened to her. Her ID chip was left behind, no note, and no signs of struggle. Scarlet has reported her Grandmother missing to the police, but they don’t seem to be taking the investigation seriously.

Scarlet begins to search for her Grandmother herself, and meets an interesting gentleman by the name of Wolf. Under it all, Wolf is a mean street fighter.

Meanwhile, Cinder works on escaping from prison, and then starts tracing people from her past based on theories she’s heard of the Lunar Princess and how she escaped.

I very much enjoyed this book, and once finished, I jumped right into Cress which is the next book of the series.

The narrator, Rebecca Soler, does a fantastic job of telling the story through the characters. I feel like she understood the characters well, and I don’t know that I would have pictured the voices much different from how she voiced them, if I had read this as an ebook.

The story is exciting and keeps you hooked as you travel with Cinder breaking out of prison and then being on the run; and Scarlet as she travels across the country to find her Grandmother and learn more about this guy she just met.

If you haven’t picked up Cinder, the first book of the Lunar Chronicles I suggest you do, then follow it up with Scarlet.
